new stories
Sorry about the lapse again...it seems I am not very good at updating this. So here is what's been going on: Grace was in the musical "Wicked", she auditioned and not only got the part, she stopped the show! She played the baby witch and she was...quite green. She loved learning about all the work and practice that goes into putting on a production like that. She is hooked and she's looking forward to the next audition in July. I thought it would be a cool idea to put Sun-In in Grace's hair to get some natural looking high lights...her hair turned rust colored. We live and learn. Grace graduated from Kindergarten and is looking forward to starting 1st grade in Mason. We toured the school and she is so excited, she may just pop! It's a really nice, new building that makes my 1st grade building look like a slum. She is in summer camp at the same place CC attend preschool so for the first time ever, we have one drop off and pick up location. I can't tell you how nice that is. And the girls are really happy to know that they have a sister in the same building. They pass each other during the day and that seems to be a big high light for them. Jeff won passes to an indoor water park in Cincinnati through some local contest. The prize included 2 nights in the attached hotel. Grace loved the activities and slides and CC was terrified by the noise and all the splashing. There were literally hundreds of children there, all behaving like animals. CC was intimidated and cold so she didn't last long. The girls were looking forward to sleeping in the hotel room so we called it a day, got dinner and went to sleep. CC woke up in the night feeling sick and soon she was getting sick. At about midnight, I got dressed, dressed her and left Jeff and Grace at the hotel. I took her home in the hopes that maybe she would get some rest at our house. In the parking lot on the way to the car, she got sick on my feet (i was wearing flip flops). So when we got to the car, I took my shoes off and drove homeward barefoot (barf-foot). Very close to home she said she needed to use the bathroom and it couldn't wait. I frantically looked for a place to stop. UDF was open, so we pulled in. But I couldn't put my very dirty flip flops back on. (I am not OK with having puke between my toes.) So I picked her up and carried her in in my bare feet. We went straight to the women's restroom. LOCKED! I had no choice, I went to the men's room. Fortunately, it was unlocked. Unfortunately, I was standing in the men's restroom in UDF in the middle of the night with a sick child in my bare feet. I was not a happy mommy. We made it home. She finally got some rest. She felt better. I got a shower and felt better too. CC is going to be 3 soon. She's so smart and funny and a joy to parent. She can be strong willed and sassy, but I think she comes by it honestly. Jeff ran the marathon. He survived, but he scared the life out of me. Marathons are scary. I'm proud of his dedication and commitment. He got a promotion as well. From what I understand, he gets a lot more responsibility for a little more money. I am no longer seeing outpatient as a result of failed contract negotiations so for now, I am in 4 nursing facilities. It's not bad work. Kind of cushy, really. This blog entry is dedicated to Rick, who, 2 days after having open heart surgery, got on my case for not updating the blog. I love his priorities. Get better, Rick! We all love you.

here's what's going on
OK, I didn't realize it's been since November. So sorry to all my loyal fans and avid reader. All 4 of you. Here's what we've been up to. Jeff is training for the Flying Pig Marathon. He runs about 5 mornings a week and lifts weights 1 morning and rests 1 day a week. I've been very proud and impressed by his determination because he prefers to run outside, no matter what the weather is doing. He has been running despite this terrible winter we've had. CC has been doing well in school. And she's wearing "big girl underwear" everyday. She's very proud of herself and announces it to anyone who will listen. She got the flu in the beginning of February and she gave it to me, then Grace. So we've all been through it. That was a bad one. Grace is now reading quite well. She reads to us at night and we all love it. Grace is looking forward to warmer weather because she loves being outside, riding her bike, running around with her friends who live on our street or just dancing around the front yard. She always hears the music and feels the beat. The girls have discovered the unending joy of annoying one another. I hear, "did not" "did too" "did not" "did too". So I try to break it up by telling them not to aggravate each other. Last week they were sitting at the kitchen table eating their after school snack and they started arguing, back and forth, really irritating. Then CC puts her hands on her hips and turns to me with a frustrated look on her face and she says, "She's activating me!" I started laughing and never really recovered enough to let her know that wasn't the correct word. So now when someone is annoyed they yell, "Mom! She's activating me!" The girls love their little cousin who is 4 months now. They get so excited to see my sister because they know Lilly will be with her. They love to make silly faces at her to make her laugh. And she is quite the happy baby. We are looking forward to spring, working in the garden and riding our bike(s) (a tandem with a piggy back bike for grace and a trailer for CC) (about 25 feet of rolling thunder). I hope you are all happy and healthy. Take care and I'll try to update the blog more often, Rick.

November
The girls had a wonderful Halloween. They were pirates. CC carried both swords and my brother Jayson wore the eye patch. But everyone had great fun. And my sister had her baby!!! Lillian Plum was born on 10/23 and she is beautiful, perfect. There are no words to describe how amazing she is and how much her little cousins adore her. Grace is taking her job very seriously and she is being quite the big helper. Andrea is doing terrific and Fred is an excellent father. Grace has begun writing a series of novels. Some of the titles are: "Cats by Grace Rhein" and "Dogs by Grace Rhein" or "Mom by Grace Rhein" and "Dad by Grace Rhein" also "CC by Grace Rhein" and my favorite "Log by Grace Rhein". All riveting story lines with surprise ending. As you know Grace got married at the end of the school year last year. They are fine, no kids yet. They are just enjoying married life. CC has a boyfriend as well. And apparently it's serious because not only do they ocassionally nap on cots about 3 feet from one another, they were sitting side by side for the class picture! Yes, it looks like we will soon be hearing wedding bells for these 2 lovebirds as well.
